Christmas Party at the British Embassy

On 7th December 2011 the Austro- British Society invited all members to this year`s Christmas Party at the Residence of the British Embassy. HE Simon Smith did welcome around 90 guests and expressed his respect to the efforts and performance accomplished this year! The Ambassador played the trompet and facilitated the carol singing by all present. The musical entertainment and the motivating remarks were very well received by the entire audience.

In the presidents address concluding the year 2011 Kurt Tiroch briefly touched 2011, shared a short look into 2012 and focused on his appreciation to all who contributed to the success of the past!

It has been an excellent year with exceptional performance! 17 major events took place – attractive and diversive! Ranging from political lectures by minister and secretary of states or business topics covered by senior executives to cultural and social events. 180 members have been acquired including 27 corporate members. 12 board meetings, various away days and supporting working groups were organized. And finally we managed to build up financial independence and liquidity as almost all events have been sponsored by the one or other corporate member!

For the first 4 months in 2012 6 events are already fixed and some more potential activities in the pipeline. The dedicated ambition is to at least keep the same quality and quantity as last year! We want to further grow, however, it is not a question of size! We will grow with the right personalities and corporate members who fit to our purpose and our existing fellow members!

Many words of personal appreciation were addressed to all members for actively participate and contribute with suggestions and ideas, to corporate members for ongoing support, cooperation and sponsorships and to the fellow board members and auditors for their huge engagement and contribution to stir our comprehensive activities! Last not least sincere triput was passed on to the Honourary President HE Simon Smith for his generous and ongoing support! In recognition of his merits HE Simon Smith received as a small gift a china vase handmade by the original “ Wiener Augarten Porzellan Manufaktur”  with ABS logo! All members present were enjoying conversations and Christmas goodies as well as the familiar athmosphere in the Embassy!
