EditorialDear Members and Friends of the ABS, did I hear any opinions of ...´Brexit being the ultimate summit of political disaster and government inability´? So, how about the current situation in Austria? Dear oh dear, what a coincidence, but certainly not a new meaning for the term ´Austro-British´ ... Let´s better change the subject and go for something completely different, e.g. our this year´s "ABS Polo PicNic". This event has developed such a popular tradition over the years. As you can see from the calendar picture above and last year´s portait on the right, our lady members in particular are taking great care of being well styled and dressed for the occasion, thus adding significantly to a really enjoyable and pleasant get together of like minded anglophiles. Do bring your family and friends, everybody is most welcome !
Yours, looking forward eagerly to meeting you there, Fred Fruth, Secretary General and Editor-in-Chief p.s. did you notice the red ´Mini´ in the background? It´s exactly sixty years since this british icon was launched, causing a tremendous shake up of a whole generation and our way of life in general for the decade, that is forever defined as the "swinging sixties". No car has ever encapsulated the spirit of an era as well as the Mini. It has been conceived as an affordable ´people´s car´, but it soon became fashionable for virtually everyone: Dukes, duchesses, movie stars, fashion photographers, racing drivers, as well as less exalted, ordinary mortals. The car spanned the convoluted social strata of the british and subsequently the international society.

Einladung zu "Carpets and Collections of the Alpine Area"Peter Bichler vom House of Scotland (ABS Corporate Member) sendet uns diese ungewöhnliche, aber umso interessantere Einladung zu einer internationalen Konferenztour (in English), welche er im September 2019 für die Österr. Textilgesellschaft veranstaltet.
